The
Achievement in Business Award went to
Igor Pasternak. Igor
Pasternak is founder and chief executive officer of Worldwide Aeros
Corporation. “This is a man who has shown that a poor Russian immigrant
can succeed,” Mr. Adlivankin said. “He has made a big economic and
technological contribution to our society, almost like Sikorsky [the
inventor of the helicopter bearing his name].”
Born
in what is now Kazakhstan, Pasternak grew up in L’viv, a Ukrainian city of
700,000 near the border of Poland. He founded Worldwide Aeros Corp., 20
years ago in the Soviet Union, and has constructed more than 30 lighter
than air vehicles which have been sold and flown internationally.
Pasternak entered the United States in 1993 as a refugee from
anti-Semitism in the Former Soviet Union.
Pasternak’s company is currently located in the Greater Los Angeles area,
and is developing the technology for an advanced fleet of large
cargo-bearing heavier-than-air vehicles which will revolutionize strategic
airlift.
