AEROS DEVELOPS
NEW-GENERATION MODEL 1170 AEROSTAT SYSTEM
Los Angeles,
California - July 15, 2004
Aeros has developed a new state-of-the-art
aerostat system, the first of which was delivered today to an undisclosed
customer.
The Model 1170
Aerostat system incorporates many new technological features, some
believed to be industry firsts: an envelope pitch angle variance system, a
robotic ground base, improved adhesive-less envelope seaming, an
intelligent flight termination system (FTS), an intelligent pressure
management system, and portability to fit inside a C-130 for rapid
deployment anywhere in the world. Expedited design and construction was
performed at the Aeros facility in Tarzana, and system deployment testing
was performed at Tustin Marine Corps Air Station's airship hangar complex.
The first Model 1170
system is expected to be immediately deployed to meet a critical
communications need. A follow-on order is expected for more units sometime
later in 2004.
