AEROS 40B “SKY DRAGON”
SERIAL NUMBER A40B-19 ASSEMBLY BEGINS
Los
Angeles, California – Sep 2004
Today
marks the start of the production of the AEROS Airship Serial Number
A40B-19 at the Aeros facility in Canoga Park, California.
Upon
completion, the gondola will hold five people (one pilot and four
passengers). The fabric for the envelope, which has been specially
developed by Aeros engineers, has been sent to the cutting room. The
finished size of the envelope will be 143 feet long with a volume of
88,000 cubic feet.
The
majority of the components used to construct the Aeros 40B–19 are made
in the United States. The custom made propellers are imported from
Germany. The Aeros 40B features the most sophisticated and reliable
engine - Teledyne Continental IO-240-B8. The engine is air-cooled, has
four horizontally opposed overhead valve cylinders, and is fuel injected
with a down draft induction system. The estimated time for completion of
the A40B-19 is 6 months.
The
A40B-19 will be modified for surveillance operations. With this
customization, Aeros is making a strong move towards a new direction in
the LTA industry – SURVEILLANCE PLATFORMS.
